Product images that pass review and still win the click

Two separate problems: being allowed in, and being chosen. Most guides only cover the first.

Getting approved

  • No promotional text, badges, borders or watermarks burnt into the image.
  • The product must fill the frame properly — too small reads as a placeholder.
  • White or plain backgrounds for the main image; lifestyle belongs in additional images.
  • The image has to match what the landing page shows.

Winning the click

Once you are eligible, the image competes with a grid of near-identical rivals. What moves CTR: showing the product at an angle that conveys scale, consistent framing across the catalogue, and not cropping so tightly that the shape is unreadable at thumbnail size.

Price sits right next to it, which is why image work and pricing work are the same conversation in Shopping.
